interesting times
Living in some very interesting times right now. Ever since President Trump started his campaign, earned the nomination and then won the Presidency, he's been subjected to a relentless barrage of attacks, from corporate elites, the media and Congress. and he's also dealt out plenty as well. its been one wild, strange and entertaining ride. and now, it seems the FBI is openly at war with him. his personal attorney's office got raided, superficially because they are looking for proof of "illegal" payments to a porn star. but the real reason is to bait Trump and get him to react rashly, which isn't going to happen. this signifies strongly that Trump is an independent actor whom most of establishment Congress does not want to see prosper, and that includes players on both sides of the aisle. not only that, but his presidency has showed just how "managed" the office really was. the vibe seems to have been that the President be controlled by his advisors, or the Chief of Staff, or any other number of power-players. but for the most part, they have all been put in line. the only agents within the government I see him unlikely to get a complete handle on would be the military. even Eisenhower couldn't counter them and he was a major war hero.
thats on the domestic front. foreign policy wise, missile strikes, presumably from a war coalition that POTUS is wrangling together will likely be raining down hellfire upon Syria in short order. chemical weapons were supposedly used again by the Assad regime, but the truth is no one really knows who did it, just that it was done, regardless of any protestations to the opposite by Russia. if anything Assad did not have motive the first time, but this time he and Russia may believe that they are untouchable now. or maybe the "moderate" rebels, themselves hardened terrorists and killers who kill kids, just not via various forms of deadly gas, performed it. or maybe there was a 3rd party embedded from another state interested in forcing the U.S. to act. its hard to tell. what isn't hard to tell, is that the mess going on there has nothing to do with the U.S. its not our war. after this latest salvo, the US should go forward with the plan and get out. let someone else take care of it, as the President says.
